Victim in Lake Charles hit and run identified, police searching for driver

The victim in a Lake Charles hit and run earlier this week has been identified as 47-year-old James Thadious Johnston.

Shortly after 11 p.m. on July 21, the Lake Charles Police Department was called to the intersection of Louisiana Highway 14 and Interstate 210 in reference to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian underneath the overpass.

An investigation found that the pedestrian was walking across the roadway of Hwy 14 when she was struck by a pick-up truck. After he was struck, police say the driver of the truck did not stop and kept driving north.

Johnston was transported to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

LCPD officers asking for the public's assistance in locating a gray GM truck with damage to the driver side of the vehicle.
