Two teens have been arrested accused of fatally shooting a man last week.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office says that on Friday, July 24, detectives arrested the two juveniles for the Second Degree Murder of 53-year-old Anthony Bennett. Bennett was located in the middle of the roadway with gunshot wounds on July 23 at around 11 p.m. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. A 16-year-old was allegedly found in possession of a firearm that was reported stolen from a vehicle less than a mile from the crime scene one day prior to the homicide.The 16-year-old and a 13-year-old were initially located on Opelousas Street, near Calcasieu Avenue; however, they allegedly ran from deputies.
They say that a short time later, deputies located both of them on I-10 westbound, near the Opelousas Street on-ramp.
The 16-year-old was charged with Second Degree Murder and Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm. The 13 year old was charged with Second Degree Murder.
