A woman from Orange, Texas died Friday in a Calcasieu Parish crash, troopers say.

Olivia W. Wilson, 65, died in the Friday night cras, said Louisiana State Police Troop D.

Troopers were called to a two-vehicle fatal crash on LA Hwy 109 near Wimberly Drive in Calcasieu Parish.

The initial investigation revealed a 2005 Chevrolet SUV was traveling north on LA Hwy 109 when the driver failed to yield while turning left into a private drive. The driver of the Chevrolet turned into the path of a southbound 2010 Nissan Versa resulting in a collision.

Wilson, who was the front seat passenger in the Nissan, was restrained at the time of the crash. Wilson suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a Sulphur area hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Both drivers and the other occupant of the Nissan were all restrained at the time of the crash. Impairment is unknown, but toxicology samples were taken from both drivers for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. There is no further information available at this time.

Louisiana State Troopers would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists to always make good decisions while operating motor vehicles. Never drive while impaired, fatigued, or distracted, always ensure every occupant is properly restrained, and follow all traffic laws. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
