Sulphur woman accused of fatally shooting boyfriend during argument

A 32-year-old woman was arrested Thursday after deputies say she fatally shot her boyfriend during an argument at a home in Sulphur.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office says that at around 3:00 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence on Walker Road.

When deputies arrived, they located the victim, identified as 43-year-old William S. Clark of Sulphur, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

During further investigation, deputies say it was learned the complainant, identified as 32-year-old Kerri S. Monic, was allegedly responsible for the shooting. Monic, according to deputies, was also Clark’s girlfriend.

The Sheriff's Office says that when Monic initially spoke with detectives she stated she was not home when the incident occurred. She later advised detectives she and Clark were having an argument when she retrieved a handgun and allegedly shot him.

During the course of the investigation detectives say they also learned Monic was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine.

According to detectives, what is believed to be the murder weapon was allegedly located inside Monic’s vehicle.

Monic was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 2nd degree murder; and possession of CDS II.

Her bond at $515,000.
