State Police say they are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Lake Charles that left one man dead.
That man has now been identified as 37-year-old Winston Joseph Latour III of Lake Charles.
Troopers say they were requested to investigate the July 29 shooting incident which involved officers with the Lake Charles Police Department
A preliminary investigation by state police found that LCPD officers responded to an alleged carjacking on Wednesday around 8:30 pm near the intersection of Shattuck Street and O'Brien Street in the city.
There, officers located the vehicle and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit ended in the 1000 block of 13th street when troopers say Latour crashed the vehicle into a house.
Officers discharged their service weapons at Latour who they say was in possession of a firearm. He was struck and later pronounced dead at the scene.
No officers were injured, according to state police.
An investigation is ongoing. No further information was available.
