"Some normal pace" Students at Immaculate Conception Cathedral School get back to the classroom

For the first time since March, all students returned to the classroom here at Immaculate Conception Cathedral School.

The assistant principal says overall it was a great day and everyone was excited to be back on campus. The school did have minor damage following Hurricane Laura. Several awnings were destroyed and signs damaged.

The campus though was able to quickly rebound and prepare to get students back safely.

"It was just about the best feeling you could have. It was an absolute sense of normalcy that I think everybody was craving and was needing. I don't know that you can even really describe it, it's so great to be back," Assistant Principal Blair Tadlock said.

Not only did the campus have to deal with the aftermath of Laura, but they are also navigating the pandemic.

As students were picked up, they were wearing masks, but it was evident they were excited to be back on campus and to see teachers and friends.

"It has been six long months before our children have been able to go to school. This sets us at ease and gives us that normal pace again in life," parent Monica Broussard said.
