A nine-year-old girl with a big heart is on a mission to help those still recovering from Hurricane Laura.

For so many families, the aftermath of the storm is a stressful time, but some are giving back in any way they can.

Brantly DuPriest had an idea to help put a smile on those recovering from Laura. Like any savvy kid, she posted on Facebook LIVE and people answered her call.

"I wanted to collect all this stuff to make people happy and just give them like a little treat," Brantly said.

So what has she collected?

"Drinks, bags, chocolate, wrapped candy, juices..."

But that's not all.

"Chips, toothbrushes, soap, deodorant. All kinds of things," Brantly said.

Throughout the day, Brantly and her friends have an assembly line filing bags and while it's a lot of hard work, there's some rewards along the way.

"Sometimes I sneak some candy," Brantly said.

More than 380 bags are being filled.

"It hurts your back when you have to bend down and stuff," Brantly said. "I usually pack at least 100 bags each day."

Her friend said she also helps when she can but said, "I'm just the neighbor."

So far, dozens of bags have been handed out, but this family's philanthropy doesn't stop with these bags. They've teamed up with her dad's shop, church groups and other organizations to cook meals and serve others.

Lauren DePriest, Brantly's mom said, "To have such a big heart and want to help so much, it means more than I could ever express."

Originally, mom was apprehensive about bringing the kids back after Hurricane Laura, but she says they've shown so much strength and caring.

"I have to say, they've taught me more than I can teach them. It's been awesome," DePriest said.
