A Marksville man is dead following a three-vehicle crash in Calcasieu Parish

Louisiana State Police say the crash occurred on November 23, 2020, at around 6:41 a.m., on the I-210 Bridge about ½ mile west of the W. Prien Lake Road exit ramp in Calcasieu Parish. The crash claimed the life of 31-year-old Raymond Christopher Simmons.

An investigation by Troopers revealed a vehicle, driven by Simmons, was traveling east on I-210 in the right hand lane. For reasons still under investigation, Simmons struck the left rear of a pickup truck that was traveling east in the right hand lane ahead of him. After striking the truck, Simmons struck the rear of a another pickup truck. The impact caused that vehicle to overturn onto its left side. Simmons vehicle came to rest against the right side concrete barrier of the bridge. The other pickup truck was able to come to a controlled stop in the right hand lane.

Simmons was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was partially ejected from the vehicle, state police say. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the other vehicles involved were both properly restrained and not injured. A toxicology sample was obtained from Simmons and submitted for analysis.

This crash remains under investigation.
