A man has been arrested on an attempted murder charge in connection with a Sunday stabbing in Lake Charles.
41-year-old Germaine Lynel Strawder, Sr. was arrested and booked on Thursday, March 5 on a charge of attempted 2nd degree murder.
Police say that on March 1 officers responded to a call of a stabbing at an apartment on Ace Street at around 7:48 pm.
When officers arrived, they say witnesses told them that the victim had been taken to a local hospital by private means.
According to officers, the investigation found that Strawder and the victim knew each other and were at the residence together with several other people.
Officers say that, according to witnesses, Strawder stepped outside the residence for a short time and upon returning, allegedly produced a knife and began stabbing the victim.
Police say that witnesses reported that there was no altercation between Strawder and the victim prior to the stabbing and that the attack seemed unprovoked.
Following the stabbing, police say Strawder fled the scene on foot
A warrant was issued and Strawder was arrested without incident.
His bond has been set at $200,000.
