Leftover Laura debris is the reason why some in the Lake Charles area are evacuating ahead of delta.

"it's just scary," says resident Vicki Williams.

From Williams' driveway you can see the mountain of debris following Hurricane Laura. Crews recently picked up the pile in front of her home but she's still concerned.

"With all of this debris out here, you could easily get killed or it could really damage up your house," Williams said.

Williams' home has roof damage, she lost a tree and her fence during the last storm. Now she is packing up her family and going to Texas.

Thousands of others in southwest Louisiana are also evacuating. In the rear-view mirror, reminders of the power of mother nature. The Capital One building boarded up after windows busted during Laura.

Calcasieu Parish is under a mandatory evacuation. The interstates and side roads grid-locked. Meanwhile, others opting to be bused to a mega shelter.

Power crews are also warning that outages could last more than a week.

"People came back, loaded their ice box up with groceries and we're going to lose it again. It's just devastating."

Though Delta is another blow to this recovering region, there are signs of optimism to remain Lake Charles Strong.
