The familiar sights and sounds of recovery is still underway across many parts of Lake Charles.
"Not many homes or businesses escaped the damage," said resident Lynn Conner.
Piles of debris can be seen along many streets as blue tarps cover the roofs of many homes. A place already devastated nearly six weeks ago by Hurricane Laura, now bracing for Hurricane Delta.
"Kind of wish it was going somewhere else, but doesn't look like it. Got to get all my loose stuff up," Conner said.
"Depending on the weather forecast I will have all kinds of stuff to put up on windows," resident Charles Smith added.
As crews work to clear debris from the last storm, preparations are already underway for what the next one could potentially bring including strong winds, lots of rain and a dangerous storm surge.
Many living in lake Charles say for now, they wait to see what the forecast will bring.
"We're still trying to recover from Laura but like I said we're just gonna hope for the best and hope everything turns out okay," Lake Charles resident Jamal Porter said.
