Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter has tested positive for COVID-19.
Hunter announced the positive results on his Facebook page. He states that he tested positive last week and is "doing well and resting at home." He has canceled several public engagements.
With his diagnosis, he asks that the public follow public health guidelines such as social distancing, good hygiene and avoiding large crowds.

"I tested positive for COVID-19 last week. I’ve had to cancel several public engagements this week and I felt it better to just let people know what’s going on. I'm doing well, resting at home and following the advice of my physician.
Please continue to follow the directives issued by public health and medical experts. Practice good hygiene and social distancing, avoid large gatherings and wear your mask. We will get through this together. There is a light at the end of the tunnel."
