Lake Charles Police arrested a local man in connection with the Friday robbery of a bank.

Police were called to Capital One Bank on Gerstner Memorial Drive Friday afternoon after a man robbed the bank, a spokesman said.

The man walked into the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money. He took the money and left the bank, but found an anti-theft device activited in the money and dropped it near the bank, police said. The man then fled.

Officers working that robbery found Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's deputies talking to a man who matched the robber's description at a nearby Walgreen's and he was identified as the robber and placed under arrest.

Jeffery ALlen Cumberledge, 55, was booked with robbery. As of Sunday, he remained in the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center, records show.

The initial responding officer for the call was PFC Julia Courville and the Lead Investigator was Sgt. Jeffery Atkinson.
