A Lake Charles man has been arrested, accused of stealing over $1,000 from a disabled family member since December 2019.
Deputies with the Calcaiseu Parish Sheriff's Office say they began investigating after a complaint was made in reference to suspicious ATM withdrawals and fraudulent transactions from an account.
During an investigation, the sheriff's office says detectives learned that 36-year-old Larry D. Lacey, Jr. had allegedly taken the victim's debit card and made fraudulent withdrawals and purchases totaling approximately $1,300 since December 2019.
A warrant was signed for Lacey's arrest on April 30.
Deputies say Lacy was located on May 6 at the victim's residence and arrested.
He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on a charge of identity theft over $1,000 when the victim is over the age of 60 or has a disability.
According to deputies, Lacey was released on bond the following day.
