KPLC in Lake Charlesreceived extensive damage as Hurricane Laura pushed through the area.
Like many local businesses and homes, Laura's winds were no match for the buildings many left behind. KPLC says that in the early morning hours of August 27 the station's transmission tower was snapped in half causing it to fall into the studio below.
No one was at the KPLC station when Laura pushed through. The building had been evacuated 12 hours prior to the tower's collapse.
Photos of the studio show debris and destruction caused by the collapse. According to KPLC it may take up to a year before the station is fully restored.
