Calcasieu Parish Sheriffs deputies have charged Scot Martin Kidd, 36, of Kinder, in the double homicide in Iowa.
Detectives were called to a home on Thompson Avenue in Iowa at 7 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, and found two people deceased inside the home.
During the investigation, detectives learned Kidd, a longtime acquaintance of the victims, was possibly responsible for the homicides. Kidd was arrested the following day, August 30, on unrelated charges of theft in Eunice and was transported to the Calcasieu Correctional Center, where he's still being held. Deputies hoped to question him on the double homicide. After further investigation, a warrant was signed for Kidd to be held with no bond for two counts of First Degree Murder.
Joan O'Brien, 73, and Zoren O'Brien, 81, were found by a family member inside the home, according to deputies.
The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Office, Iowa Police Department, and the Louisiana State Police assisted in the case; the Calcasieu Coroner will determine cause of death.
