A 26-year-old inmate at the Calcasieu Correctional Center died on Sunday, August 16, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies say the inmate, identified as Dynell A. Dise of Westlake, was found unresponsive in his single-man cell during a head count.
Attempts were made to revive Dise, but deputies say he was later pronounced dead by emergency medical personnel.
A cause of death will be determined by the Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office.
The Sheriff's Office says that no foul play is suspected.
