An organization from Indiana is in Sulphur helping local veterans get back on their feet after Hurricane Laura.
The Journey Home, a non-profit in Winchester, Indiana deployed its Veterans’ Mobile Disaster Response Team to Louisiana to help veterans and their families.
The group says the mobile unit, which arrived on September 5 in Sulphur, includes a clinical social worker; case management social worker and two support staff from The Journey Home.
From their command center in Sulphur, The Journey Home says that they will utilize their outreach vehicle throughout the region, providing assistance to Veterans and their families. They say they will also provide basic necessities, links to regional resources and VA services to veterans and their families affected by the storm.
The team is expected to head back to Indiana this weekend.
“Regardless of where Veterans are located, they are the priority of The Journey Home’s mission and we are here to help! The Mobile Disaster Response Team further displays our commitment to outreach programming on a nationwide scope to ensure at-risk and in-need Veterans are able to access resources and benefits they have earned. We encourage everyone to join us in helping our American Heroes experiencing crisis where ever they may be by supporting the dedicated efforts of our Mobile Disaster Response Team.” Eldon Solomon, The Journey Home Clinical Director and CEO said.
