The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury says that household food waste sites in the parish will not be open today, Monday September 7, 2020.
The resources, they say, are needed for daily residential garbage collection.
Parish officials will evaluate demand for the sites as well as available resources to determine if any sites will re-open.
As many as five sites have been open for residents to bring spoiled food from refrigerators and freezers in the aftermath of Hurricane Laura.
