A Moss Bluff man was arrested Sunday after deputies say he allegedly stabbed a woman and raped her while holding her against her will in his home.
Calcasieu Parish deputies were called around 10:50 pm on November 1 to a residence on Goos Road in Moss Bluff in reference to a stabbing.
The caller said that a woman had shown up at his home with a stab wound.
Upon arrival to the residence, deputies spoke with the woman who told them she was stabbed by a man she recently me while she was at his home on Goos Road.
That man was later identified by deputies as 38-year-old Gerardo Calix-Arteaga.
The victims told deputies that Arteaga allegedly stabbed her and held her against her will before raping her. The woman said she was able to escape the residence and head to a nearby home for help.
She was transported to a local hospital, treated for her injuries and released.
Deputies say Arteaga had fled the scene prior to their arrival and was captured a short time later in a wooded area behind his home with the help of a CPSO K9 and handler.
Arteaga was arrested and transported to a local hospital for injuries he sustained during his apprehension.
Upon his release, the sheriff's office says he was transported to the Calcasieu Correctional Center where he was booked on charges of false imprisonment, offender armed with a dangerous weapon, aggravated battery, 1st degree rape, and resisting arrest.
His bond is still pending.
Deputies say that Arteaga also has a detainer for U.S. Border Patrol.
