The confederate monument in front of the Calcasieu Parish Courthouse will remain there, KPLC reports.
The parish police jury voted Thursday night to leave the South's Defenders Monument where it currently stands. It has been on the grounds since 1915,according to KPLC.
A motion was before the police jury to move the monument from the courthouse grounds.
The jury's vote was 10-5.
