Body recovered in search for missing boater in Calcasieu Ship Channel

The Coast Guard says that they have ended the search for a person in the Calcasieu River.

Officials say they received notification that a body had been recovered matching the description of the missing person.

The search began early Wednesday morning when Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received notification that a man was ejected from his skiff after striking an underwater dredge pipe. The incident happened near hackberry.

There were two people onboard the vessel at the time of the incident. The Coast Guard has reopened the Calcasieu River Ship Channel.
