The Calcasieu Parish School Board announced Friday, December 11, that they will distribute food for students during the holiday break.
"Students and families across our district have endured hardships and experienced difficult circumstances this year due to both COVID-19 and two hurricanes," the school board said in a press release. "During this holiday season, the Calcasieu Parish School Board will be taking one worry away as our School Nutrition Program staff will be distributing food for students."
Two weeks worth of Grab & Go Meals, free of charge, will be available for pick-up for all CPSB students on December 21, they said.
These meals are available during the holiday break due to the meal flexibility waivers approved by the United States Department of Agriculture for this school year.
The school board said that adults wishing to pick up meals without students present must sign a consent form upon receipt of meals.
