A wanted fugitive from Alabama was arrested Wednesday in Calcasieu Parish.
Officers with the Combined Anti-Drug Team received information on the whereabouts of wanted fugitive Amanda Buras. In a collaborative effort with Lake Charles Police Department, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, State Police and US Marshals task force, Buras was taken into custody.
Amanda Buras was wanted out of Alabama for first-degree armed robbery and felony homicide. Police say Buras is accused of being involved an a botched robbery that left one dead. On Oct. 16, 2020, Justin Bruno, 22, was killed during the ordeal at a motel in Shelby County.
She is being charged locally with possession of heroin, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to a spokesperson for the Lake Charles Police Dept.
Buras is currently being housed at the Calcasieu Parish Jail awaiting extradition back to Alabama.
