When Willow Charter Academy in Lafayette starts school on August 17, students will open chrome books from home rather than in the classroom.
"This change was necessitated based on recent stakeholder feedback and concerns for the safety of staff and students," Principal Jennifer Gordon said in a statement to families. "In addition, the increase of COVID-19 cases in the Lafayette area remains concerning and was also a factor in our decision."
Students will receive online instruction through Friday, September 11.
Families that chose the virtual option at the beginning of the school year will continue virtual learning beyond that date.
All other students will return to school on Monday, September 14, as part of a hybrid model.
In the event that virtual learning will be extended past September 11, Gordon said that families will be notified.
