The Vermilion Parish School Board met Thursday in a special meeting to fill a vacant seat and select a new vice president.

Board member Dale Stelly says that the board selected member Kibbie Pillette as the board’s Vice President. Charlotte Detraz was appointed to fill the seat for District E that was left vacant after the resignation of Board President Jean Broussard.

Detraz according to Stelly, was chosen by the board because during the election last year, she received 49% of the vote loses to Broussard.

A decision on the Williams Scholar Academy, a Charter School was also on the agenda but the motion failed to move forward on a vote of 4-4. Stelly says the charter school will likely appeal.
