Abbeville armed robbery suspect arrested, another arrested on unrelated charges

A teen was arrested for an armed robbery of a convenience store in Abbeville. A second person was arrested following a search of a home during that investigation.

On April 24, 2019, at 1:57 p.m., patrol officers responded to Circle K on Veterans Memorial Drive in reference to an armed robbery, according to Bill Spearman, Chief of Police, Abbeville Police Dept.

The suspect allegedly robbed the victim of $30 while pointing a handgun at him.

A photo lineup was created, and the victim was able to pick out the person who robbed him, stated Spearman.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Dejon Chargois, 17.

Upon executing the search warrant for Chargois’ residence, Roderick Guidry, Jr., 18, ran into a bedroom of the residence. Guidry was detained while the search warrant was being executed. Officers located two guns in the room that Guidry ran into. Next to Guidry’s location, a handgun with an extended magazine was located, along with an AR style rifle, which had no factory markings and no stamped serial number, according to Chief Spearman. Counterfeit one-hundred-dollar bills, three scales and a .40 caliber magazine under the mattress of the bed.

Chargois was located at another residence and arrested on charges of is was booked at the Abbeville Police Department on the following charges:

· Armed Robbery
· Possession of a Prescription Drug Without a Prescription
· Possession of Schedule I Drugs
· Possession of Schedule II Drugs

Guidry was booked at the Abbeville Police Department on the following charges:

· Possession or Dealing in Unregistered or Illegally Transferred Weapons
· Monetary Instrument Abuse
· Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Chargois and Guidry were transported to the Vermilion Parish Jail.
