A deputy did not have to go undercover when he received a wrong-number text message in reference to indecent behavior with a juvenile.

On February 6, 2019, detectives with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division began investigating a complaint in regards to indecent behavior with a juvenile and computer-aided solicitation of a minor after a Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Detective received a text message on their personal cell phone from a wrong number, according to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike A. Couvillon.

Through the course of a two-month long investigation between the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division and Louisiana State Police, Region II Bureau of Investigations, numerous “Undercover Photographs” of a trooper posing as a juvenile were sent to the suspect who detectives identified as Shane Michael Duhon, 32, of Lafayette.

On Friday, April 12, 2019, Duhon was arrested at his residence on a warrant for 12 counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile and 12 counts of computer-aided solicitation of a minor, added Couvillon.

Duhon was booked into the Lafayette Parish Jail and then transported to the Vermilion Parish Jail where he is currently being held with no bond.

This investigation is still on-going and more charges may be forthcoming.
