According to theGo Fund Me coordinated by the Police Association of Lafayette, she still has a long road to recovery ahead. The association says that the family of the officer is aware of the fundraiser.

“As we have said from the beginning she still has a long road to recovery. Kaitlyn has expressed her overwhelming gratitude for the first responders that came to the scene to help her, the medical personnel who have worked tirelessly to get her stable enough to go home, the law enforcement personnel who didn’t sleep until the suspect was captured, and everyone who has so generously donated to help her financially during her recovery. Kaitlyn is a warrior and she will recover!”

Rudesill was shot on April 3, 2019, during a traffic stop.

The suspect is 29-year-old Nahshon Ishmael Brooks, of Abbeville. Brooks was captured last week in Lafayette Parish and transferred to the Vermilion Parish jail.
