The Abbeville Police Department announced the launch of their official website on Wednesday. The department says the new site was created to accomplish several goals in the community.
One of those hopes is of making the Abbeville a safer place for residents and visitors.
Among several features of the site, residents can now log on to www.abbevillpd.com to find information on the department or to report crimes. The department tells KATC that anonymous tips can also be left via the new web page.

The website also contains an “important links” page, which directs users to useful information on hurricane preparedness, poison control, city and parish department links, as well as local news sites.
Officials say that the website will evolve in the coming weeks and months to include more features.
Residents can still contact the department and report crimes via the APD Facebook page or by telephone at 337-892-6777.
