The Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Maurice Police Department are working several vehicle burglaries and one stolen vehicle in the Maurice area.
All vehicles that were burglarized were unlocked, a spokesman said. The vehicle that was stolen – which has since been recovered – wasn’t just unlocked, the keys were left in it, he said.
The Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating these vehicle burglaries and ask anyone with information to contact the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division @(337)898-4403.
The spokesman also said he wanted to remind everyone that they should lock their vehicles and remove all valuables from their vehicles, including the keys to the vehicle. This will increase your chances of NOT being a victim, he said.
