The City of Abbeville will begin negotiating a lease for the Vermilion Oaks Golf Course.
Mayor Pro Tem Francis Touchet said after Tuesday’s meeting that the lease would call for a $1,000-per month lease with an option for the city to cancel the lease at any time.
Touchet also says the city would put up $50,000 to get the course up to par while the owners would put up $20,000.
The council will consider the lease agreement after attorneys for the city and the owners agree to terms.
