A Friday night late August in south Louisiana means Friday night lights and plenty of excitement, but for one of the games here in Acadiana, the real excitement happened before kickoff.

Master Sergeant Christine Lee sang the National Anthem on Friday night at Delcambre High School.

While it’s not unusual for someone to sing at a football game, Lee’s reason for being at Declambre was special.

She was home early from deployment and was eager to surprise her husband who is the head coach of South Cameron High School.

Lee’s presence came as a surprise to many and an emotional moment for others.

“He’s my rock. He’s real affectionate. He’s a kind person, and I respect him very much, and I always think that I’m not good enough for him to receive me like that. He’s been so faithful to take care of everything while I was gone,” said Lee.
