A St. Mary Parish councilman has been booked into jail for the second time this week.
On Monday, James Bennett, 50, was arrested on drug, weapon, and stalking charges.
Today, he was arrested for allegedly violating a protective order.
According to a a spokesperson for the Berwick Police Department, Bennett was prohibited from being within 100 yards of the person who filed the protective order. Video evidence showed the councilman violated that order, the spokesperson said.
Bennett was arrested earlier this year on stalking charges.
