A new sheriff in St. Mary Parish has been sworn in.
On Tuesday, December 18, 2018, Sheriff-Elect Blaise Smith was sworn in at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse.
He will take over the position from Sheriff Scott Anslum. Anslum has been sheriff since 2017 when retiring sheriff Mark Hebert appointed him as a replacement.
