Second suspect in elderly fraud case arrested in Lafayette Parish

A second suspect wanted for allegedly taking money from an elderly woman in St. Martin Parish has been arrested in Lafayette Parish.

On April 9, 2019, Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint regarding the alleged fraud of an elderly woman.

Following an investigation, warrants were obtained for 46-year-old Shane Latiolais and 51-year-old Dana Debo, of Breaux Bridge. They were both wanted for Monetary Instrument Abuse.

Latiolais was arrested on June 5, 2019, and charged with 24 counts of Monetary Instrument Abuse and was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.

Debo was arrested and booked by Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies Monday on the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Warrant and was subsequently transported to the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center where she was booked in on 31 Counts of Monetary Instrument Abuse

Both Latiolais and Debo are accused of using the victim’s credit card to purchase several items totaling approximately $1500 worth of merchandise over a three month period.

At the time of this release, no bond had been set.
