Louisiana State Parks has announced the closure of portions of Lake Fausse Pointe State Park due to high water.
On Facebook, the Louisiana State Parks pages announced the closure of cabins and day-use area at Lake Fausse Pointe State Park. The closure is due to high water and expected rains this week.
Those closed areas are expected to reopen Thursday, June 6, 2019, to allow for clean-up and to determine if the opening of the Morganza Spillway will impact the park.
Guests with cabin stays will be contacted by ReserveAmerica within the next day or two.
Louisiana State Parks page also alerted guests to Lake Fausse Pointe State Park that the wooden bridge on La. Hwy. 3083, between Coteau Holmes and the Levee Road, will be closed May 28 through August 6 for required roadwork.
Visitors to the park are advised to take La. Hwy. 96 from St. Martinville to the Levee Road during that time.
Anyone at the parks who might happen upon displaced wildlife because of localized flooding is asked to call the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
