St. Martin Parish is getting a bit more welcoming with the addition of signs.

Parish President Chester Cedars says he is excited to see the new promotional signs go up throughout the parish. The new signs will welcome visitors to the parish and thank them for coming on the way out.

“I corralled a couple of office personnel and said, ‘Let’s get to work,'” Cedars said. “I want some ‘welcome’ signs and ‘thank you for visiting’ signs prepared, designed and placed throughout the parish.”

Cedars says the correct permits were secured from DOTD for about 12 different locations. Both major thoroughfares leading into and out of the parish will have these signs added.

They are expected to be installed over the next couple of weeks.

“I am indeed hopeful that over the next couple of weeks, people entering St. Martin Parish will do so underneath or on the side of a sign that says ‘Welcome to St. Martin Parish,’ and when they leave after spending a lot of tourism money, they will be thanked by virtue of large signage as well,” Cedars said.

The signs were financed through the St. Martin Parish Department of Tourism.
