The St. Martin Parish School Board will ask residents to consider renewing a 7.91 mills property tax on the May ballot.
The tax is dedicated for use in constructing, improving, maintaining, and operating public school facilities, according to the school board. The tax will expire at the end of the year.
The renewal, should it pass, will extend the tax for another 10 years. The tax currently generates over $3 million annually for the school board
The election will be held on May 4, 2019.
