Four arrested on drug and weapons charges in Breaux Bridge

St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested four young men – three from Lafayette and one from New Iberia – after gunfire on Zin Zin Road.

At about 11:30 Saturday night, deputies were called to a location near C. Huval Road, and called in help from Louisiana State Police, Breaux Bridge Police, Henderson Police and St. Martinville Police to disburse a large crowd of people and vehicles, a spokeswoman said.

While they were clearing the crowd, gunshots were heard, the spokeswoman said. As officers were investigating, more shots were fired into the crowd of law enforcement and people who were leaving the scene, she said.

 

The investigation turned up a description of the suspected shooter’s vehicle, and a short time later deputies found the suspect vehicle. There were four people inside, and deputies found guns, illegal drugs and a large amount of money.

Jeremiah Robertson, 17, of Lafayette; booked with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and synthetic marijuana; possession of a firearm in the presence of drugs; violation of a drug-free zone; illegal possession of stolen firearms; possession of money derived from drug sales; aggravated assault with a fire arm on a peace officer; no driver’s license and obstruction of a public passage.

Brandon Prejean, 25, of Lafayette; booked with: possession with intent to distribute marijuana and synthetic marijuana; possession of a firearm in the presence of drugs; violation of a drug-free zone; illegal possession of stolen firearms; and possession of money derived from drug sales.

Daquan Arceneaux, 20, of Lafayette; booked with: possession with intent to distribute marijuana and synthetic marijuana; possession of a firearm in the presence of drugs; violation of a drug-free zone; illegal possession of stolen firearms; and possession of money derived from drug sales.

Travian Jones, 22, of New Iberia; booked with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and synthetic marijuana; possession of a firearm in the presence of drugs; violation of a drug-free zone; illegal possession of stolen firearms; and possession of money derived from drug sales.

Following their arrests, they were booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center and as of Sunday afternoon, no bonds had been set. 

No injuries were reported and there is no further information available at this time. The incident remains under investigation, the spokeswoman said.
