More than a dozen students from area high schools were recognized today for their work in a photography project.

The event was held at NUNU Arts and Culture Collective in Arnaudville.

Awards were presented in the Mankind + Tree Photography Contest.

The contest challenged students of St. Landry and St. Martin parishes’ public and private high schools to examine mankind’s relationship with trees.

“We’re here today at the NUNU Culture Collective in Arnaudville and they have put together a photography exhibition and competition for the local high school students,” said Jared Guidry, art teacher at Cecilia High School. “My students at Cecilia High School participated in this project, which is entitled Mankind and Tree.”

Three winning entries will be custom framed and student photographers were awarded with cash prizes.
