The St. Martin Parish Council on Aging is selling hot dogs for seniors again today.

They sold chili dogs with chips and a cookie to raise money for the council’s programs for seniors.

The services provided to area seniors by the agency include Advocacy, Caregiver Sources, Food and Meals, Information and Referral, Medication Assistance, Ombudsman Services, Companion care, Pharmaceutical assistance, recreation and leisure activities, transportation and utilities assistance.

Shanese Lewis, executive director of the Council, said today’s proceeds help pay for the Meals on Wheels program.

“We service about 150 seniors per day, providing them with a hot, nutritious meal,” she said. “They live in rural areas, they all have mobility issues, and many are homebound and don’t have anyone to cook a meal for them. So, a day like today is vital.”
