The Acadiana Treatment Center is showing off its recently expanded Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility.

The center held a ribbon cutting ceremony and a tour of the facility in Sunset.

They are partnering with Louisiana Healthcare Connections to add more beds for children under medicaid.

Here’s a release from the agency about the opening:

Acadiana Treatment Center, a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF), held a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for its facility at 156 Choctaw Road in Sunset, La., on June 14, 2019. The
event included an announcement of a partnership with Louisiana Healthcare Connections, a Healthy Louisiana
Medicaid health plan, to expand the number of beds at the facility for adolescent Medicaid enrollees.

More than 60 people attended the ribbon cutting to demonstrate support for the expansion of PRTF services in the Acadiana region. Remarks were provided by Daniel Martinez-Torres, CEO of Acadiana Treatment Center, Raquella Manuel, President and CEO of the St. Landry Chamber of Commerce, and Summer Chavez, Clinical Manager of Behavioral Health Utilization Management, during the facility’s dedication ceremony.

Acadiana Treatment Center’s PRTF provides inpatient psychiatric services to individuals under the age of 18 in a
therapeutic residential setting. The intensive services provided in PRTF settings are designed for youths with
significant functional impairment due to substance use, trauma, developmental issues, or mental health diagnoses.

The increased availability of PRTF beds at Acadiana Treatment Center will expand access to quality, evidence-based behavioral health treatment and services for youth enrolled in Louisiana’s Medicaid system.

“Increasing access to quality, evidence-based behavioral healthcare for Louisiana residents of all ages is a key
priority for Louisiana Healthcare Connections. The shortage of Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities in
Louisiana has limited access to comprehensive and appropriate specialized behavioral health services for children in our state,” said Kendra Case, Chief Operating Officer for Louisiana Healthcare Connections. “We appreciate Acadiana Treatment Center’s commitment to ensuring that this level of quality comprehensive care is more readily available to adolescent Medicaid enrollees.”

“It is with great pleasure that Acadiana Treatment Center announces its partnership with Louisiana Healthcare
Connections to provide critical services for the youth of Louisiana. This partnership demonstrates our goal to
positively impact the kids of our community and bring families together through long term psychiatric care,” said
Daniel Torres, Acadiana Treatment Center CEO. “As a treatment center, we target and address mental illness, drug and alcohol addiction, and trauma to restore the livelihood of our residents. Through evidence-based treatment, medication management, individual, group and family therapy, our ambition is to provide the children that come through our program with lifelong skills to cope and grow into healthy and productive citizens. This partnership between Acadiana Treatment Center and Louisiana Healthcare Connections is a testament to our continued commitment to improve the lives of those we serve.”
