Opelousas overnight shooting suspect turns self in

UPDATE: Opelousas Police say that shooting suspect John Dandre Leblanc has turned himself in to police this morning.

Leblanc turned himself over to police at 7:00 am and is now in police custody. The victim in this shooting remains in critical condition.

Police say Leblanc shot at several people Wednesday night outside a home on Cherokee Street after an earlier argument at a nearby motel.

Leblanc is charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder.

The case remains under investigation.

OPELOUSAS–A suspect in an overnight shooting is wanted.

Police say John Dandre Leblanc shot at several people outside a home on Cherokee Street near its intersection with Natchez Boulevard. According to investigators, that shooting stemmed from an earlier argument at a motel on North Main Street.

One person was wounded and is listed as “stable” in a local hospital.
