Suspect wanted in Opelousas shooting arrested

The Opelousas Police Department says that arrest has been made in connection with a March shooting in Opelousas.

18-year-old Dontarious Williams was arrested around 4:00 am Thursday in connection with a March 23 shooting incident. Police say Williams has been a fugitive since late March. He was wanted on charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder and Illegal use of weapons or dangerous Instrumentalities.

Williams was located at a residence on Overton St. in Opelousas.

Police say that the incident occurred at the intersection of Academy and Laurent Street on the evening of Saturday, March 23. No one was injured during the incident, but police say that a vehicle was struck after more than 20 shots were fired.

Two individuals were arrested following the incident. Those suspects, identified as Davaska Savoy, 19, and Brandon Savoy, 25, both of Opelousas, were booked on charges of attempted second-degree murder among others. To read more on those charges, click below.

Another suspect, Robert Joseph III, is still wanted in connection with the shooting.
