He will be booked in the St. Landry Parish jail in connection with that shooting.

Sunset Police Chief Luis Padilla says that person had an ongoing dispute with the victim of this shooting. Police are still investigating what led to this incident.

That suspect’s name has not yet been released.

The shooting happened on 100 block of West Martin Luther King Drive at around 3:58 pm. Padilla says that one of his officers had passed through the area just seconds before the shooting.

One person was fatally shot and was dead at the scene upon officers arrival.

The identity of that person has not been released. Chief Padilla says the ID won’t be released until next of kin are notified.

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff Office provided patrol units and detectives to assist in the case, a spokesman said.
