Port Barre Police are searching for three young men who robbed a group home Friday night.

Police were called to the 200 block of Beauxis Drive for a report of an armed robbery. The incident happened at a mobile home as a group home.

The victim told police that three young men, who appeared to be teens, entered through the front door of the home shortly before 4 a.m. They had pistols and one had what appeared to be a high-power rifle. The men demanded wallets, grabbed a video game console and some cigarettes and ran away.

Two police cars were in the area at the time of the incident, but they weren’t able to locate anyone. Police believe the suspects lived in the area and were able to get home before officers could catch them.

Also that night, there were several vehicle burglaries just outside of Port Barre city limits, off of John Addie Rd and La 103. The St. Landry sheriffs office is investigating those incidents, but video surveillance from one of the homes off of La 103, shows two subjects attempting to break into a vehicle. One of the subjects appears to have an AK style rifle strapped across his back, which is believed to have been stolen from a vehicle on John Addie Road.

Police believe those suspects captured in the home surveillance video are likely the same crew responsible for the armed robbery.
