Opelousas Police have identified the pedestrian killed in a crash Monday night on S Railroad Avenue.

Police Chief McLendon says a pedestrian has been identified as 70-year-old Clarence Jones. Jones died at the scene following the crash.

Opelousas Police in earlier statements to KATC said the driver of the vehicle fled the scene. After an investigation, police report that surveillance video shows that this is no longer the case.

The crash, McLendon says, is no longer being treated as a hit-and-run incident.

KATC’s Justice Henderson is currently at the scene of the crash. Police tell her that they are interviewing the driver of the vehicle.

An investigation is ongoing. It is unclear if anyone will be charged.
