Babies at Opelousas General were gifted with knitted and crocheted hats as part of the Little Hats, Big Hearts program.
Starting in February, babies will be given handmade hats in celebration of American Heart Month. Volunteers knitted and crocheted hats for all the babies born in Acadiana during the month of February.
Four hospitals in the area are taking part in the red hat giveaway. The Association’s Little Hats, Big Hearts program raises awareness of heart disease and congenital heart defects.
Opelousas General received their shipment of hats Tuesday. Jennings American Legion Hospital, Lafayette General Hospital, and Iberia Medical Center will also receive shipments this week, ahead of American Heart Month.
