St. Landry School Board member dies suddenly

We’ve just received this statement from the St. Landry Parish School System:

 The St. Landry Parish School District is saddened by the sudden and untimely death
of newly elected school board member, Mr. John Miller, who passed away early this morning. Mr. Miller was recently elected to serve as the District 3 School Board member for St. Landry Parish School District.
He was 77 years old.
Mr. Miller began his employment as a librarian with St. Landry Parish School District on January 5, 1970.
From 1970 to 1985 he worked as both a librarian and high school teacher. He retired January 31, 1985 with having served 15 years with St. Landry Parish School District.
Mr. Miller became a St. Landry Parish School Board member in January of 1985 and served for 10 years, serving as Board President in 1991. In 1999, he was once again elected to serve the people as a school board member for District 3, serving 13 ½ years.
He was recently re-elected to the Board on December 8, 2018.
The St. Landry Parish School Board and District would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of Mr. John Miller and recognize his individual contributions made to St. Landry Parish Schools.
